what is Anemia?Role of Red Blood cells in your Blood Anemia  is the condition due to the decrease in Red blood cells either due to blood loss,decrease/ faulty production or destruction of Red blood cells. Red blood cells are wonderfully designed by our creator to carry the oxygen from the lungs and when the blood is pumped through the heart, these red blood cells carry oxygen to all parts of the body like the vehicles filled with cash ..see this simple and interesting analogy of money containing trucks with Red blood cells carrying oxygen in this video. what is Thalassaemia?what are the causes, types and treatment? Thalassaemia is an inherited genetic blood disorder that occurs due to certain  genetic mutations in the globin chains. Globin binds with iron to form the haemoglobin  which is the essential component of the red blood cells that carries oxygen from lungs to all the body tissues and carbon dioxide from the tissues to the lungs. A defect in haemoglobin formation leads to abnormal Red blood cells that break down readily and depending on the type and severity of mutations it could lead to severe Anemia in the body that requires the blood transfusion. , Hope you will find this video helpful in getting an idea of  Thalassaemia.thanks for watching.

An unexpected diagnosis of Thalassemia major

A True story that I witnessed. While studying medicine during her professional studies she never thought of a disease named Thalassaemia major could affect her own beloved son in future. . Seven years ago, when she was getting  married to a healthy, educated and fit person outside her community...not a single thought came to anyone's mind to get the blood screening done to exclude the possibility of thalassaemia minor in soon to be married couple...although she had read it before that both husband and wife should be screened for thalassaemia minor by a simple test which is called hemoglobin electrophoresis, because if both of them are affected with thalassaemia minor, there are 25% chances of having a Thalassaemia major child in each pregnancy. she forgot this information as it was according to the plan of Allah Almighty and she was going to be tested by a trial...A trial that could either turn her down or could raise her up. here it goes, soon they were blessed with a baby
